Our Story
From Local Roots to Global Markets
Founded in 1990, Dandy Dan’s Seafood has grown from a small local fish business into a trusted seafood processor and supplier serving customers across Canada and international markets.
Located in the historic community of Ship Harbour, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, on the Avalon Peninsula, our company is deeply rooted in the province’s rich fishing heritage. What began with our founder delivering fresh seafood directly to families throughout Placentia Bay has evolved into a modern processing operation committed to quality, food safety, and exceptional customer service.
Growing with Purpose
In 1991, Dandy Dan’s received its Provincial Retail Fish Processing Licence, marking the beginning of our expansion. Building on decades of experience, we obtained federal processing licences in 2020 for groundfish, pelagic, and other seafood species, allowing us to supply customers in both domestic and international markets. In 2021, we were awarded a snow crab processing licence with a capacity of one million pounds, which was expanded to two million pounds in 2022 to support growing market demand..

For more than 30 years, we have proudly partnered with local fish harvesters, purchasing fresh seafood landed in Newfoundland and Labrador whenever available. We are equally committed to supporting our local communities by creating employment opportunities and contributing to the sustainable growth of the province's seafood industry.
